The fact is that the Wind Turbine Industry has failed to harness sufficient volume of wind flowing by in the immediate vicinity of their machines. More precisely to concentrate the wind onto their vanes locally. With a Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine it would be economically senseless to build a Funnel (or shroud) around the wind vanes because of the enormity and complexity of such a device.

With a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (V.A.W.T.) however, such a Wind Accelerating Funnel attachment is eminently viable. By deflecting increased wind flow onto the wind vanes such a Funnel would increase the energy yield of a V.A.W.T. right across the Wind Speed Spectrum.The start up of rotation would be possible on lighter actual wind speeds. The Annual Energy Yield of a V.A.W.T. combined with a Wind Acceleration Funnel will be significantly enhanced above current levels.
