Description
[Bay Fusion][0] was created to promote the development and operation of fusion energy technology in the north west of England, focussed around Morecambe Bay which is central to the North West Energy Coast and the North West Nuclear Arc. It recently submitted Heysham as a potential site for the UKAEA [STEP][1] prototype fusion power station and is now moving to support the rapidly developing UK fusion sector, with the aim of building an industry cluster to support the existing world class companies working in the nuclear sector as well as helping new entrants to the fusion development sector get a foothold.
This InnovateUK project will provide resource to catalyse cluster activities to help creating a cross-sector and cross-discipline fusion cluster, bringing together a diverse range of industries to help us reach net zero sooner with fusion technology and solve the climate crisis beyond 2050\\\\. Also Bay Fusion will continue its programmes of outreach and engagement, especially with STEM activities to help enthuse the next generation of fusion technologists.
