Krellian helps facilities managers meet their net zero targets whilst saving money, by using smart building technology to optimise space utilisation and reduce energy consumption.

A lot of businesses are wasting money on underutilised and inefficient buildings, which is bad for their bottom line and bad for the environment. 59% of businesses say their office space requirements have reduced as a result of the pandemic, and meanwhile energy prices have nearly tripled in the last year. That means a lot of money is being wasted on rent and energy bills for spaces that aren't being fully utilised.

UK businesses stand to save £6 billion a year if they meet the government's energy efficiency target for 2030, but facilities managers at many medium sized businesses have been given top-down net zero targets to meet and just don't know where to start. They manage buildings with multiple complex building management systems that don't talk to each other, which makes it very hard to get an overall picture of how a building is being used.

Krellian provides a smart building hub which consolidates multi-vendor building management systems into a single standardised interface. Data from that hub can then be streamed to a cloud service to create a digital twin of a building, to model how it is being used and identify potential optimisations.

The proposed project would implement a cloud service which consumes data from a smart building hub in a standardised Web of Things (WoT) format, stores that data in a time-series database, and visualises it in a meaningful way in order to help facilities managers make informed decisions.

The output of the project would be a minimum viable product of the cloud service, delivered to customers as a public beta.
