Description
This project will develop a handheld sensing system which aims to prevent errors on construction sites. Crucially, this can reduce construction waste and latent defects, leading to significant savings in greenhouse gas emissions and supporting the UK's net zero targets. The proposed device will create a real-time connection between the 3D Building Information Model (BIM) and reality on large construction sites. The compact handheld sensor payload combines visual, lidar, and inertial measurements with robust multi-sensor fusion algorithms.
