Description
Achieving net-zero carbon objective by 2040 is a priority requiring novel and innovative solutions to modernise the cattle husbandry sector.
Although research has developed dietary supplements and medication, these are applied with a blanket approach and don't address individual needs of the animal and farmer. Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) targets individual animal treatment and the drive towards more sustainable husbandry requires new approaches to aid farmers, veterinarians and policymakers. This project will create a low-cost Rumen Monitoring Platform (RuMP) incorporating multiple sensing elements in a single device that includes unique biofouling mitigation methods to navigate the environment of the rumen microbiome.
