Xpectra Ltd aims to tackle key challenges on ultra-high power density electric machines by introducing ultra-high power density and torque density propulsion system.

This will be done by re-defining the thermal, magnetic and mechanical design of PMSM engines and implementing novel technologies in the thermal, mechanical and magnetic design. This will lead to a more efficient product, with predictable performance as per design. The manufacturing methods that are going to be developed for this electric drive can be also applied to other electrification sectors. This project will add to the strengths and aspirations of the UK supply chain of power electronics, machines and drives. The outcome of this project will be a high-growth and high-added-value product that can collectively contribute to the supply chain in the UK and strengthen its position as the market leader. In response to the present challenges related to net-zero, this project will progress the development of a unique and highly innovative propulsion system, which outperforms state-of-the-art cryogenic superconductive propulsion systems.
