STG Advisors is tackling the climate emergency head on. We're developing an innovative IT **energy efficiency** and **transparency** tool, which can be used to improve poorly utilised hardware, poorly designed software, poorly integrated technology and inefficient operations. This tool will empower it's user in the race to deliver net-zero targets in IT.

This innovation responds directly to the challenge of accelerating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that result from accelerating global digitalisation, as well as the lack of transparency around where the emissions are generated within IT hardware and software. As the adoption of cloud computing has exploded, IT efficiency has stalled, and IT transparency has become quite literally lost in the cloud.

Our project will use transparency to make IT more efficient. We're building a small piece of software that can be deployed seamlessly to any server. It will gather energy consumption and computational processing data to paint a picture of what is running where. We'll use machine learning to help identify what is running inefficiently, and we'll create a dashboard that empowers the user with insights and executable recommendations for improving their IT energy efficiency. It will be scalable to thousands of servers, and eventually deployable to desktops and other devices.

Energy efficiency of IT is the first benefit, but it's not the only benefit. Eventually it can be used to help companies comply with their ESG reporting obligations, or help companies procure more sustainably. It can help customers choose the best product, or help employees choose employers that are delivering on their emissions pledges.

It is, in short, a potentially gamechanging innovation in the fight against climate change.
