Description
OXLiD Ltd is a recently formed start-up benefiting from collaborating with the Faraday Institution-funded SPRINT programme and several industrial partners. OXLiD is dedicated to establishing itself as the UK's foremost developer of Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries and position itself as material provider to battery manufacturers in the UK and worldwide.
Li-S batteries are a promising and potentially highly competitive energy storage technology for application where lightweight batteries are needed. This project focuses on building a Proof-of-Concept Quasi-Solid-State Li-S prototype cell that has the potential to significantly enhance the number of times Li-S batteries can be charged before they reach end of life, the energy they can store per unit volume and the temperature range over which they can operate.
This project will combine the expertise of OXLiD with a leading academic institution to accelerate the development and commercialisation of Li-S batteries within the aerospace and automotive markets. This will facilitate future revenue and investment opportunities for the company whilst enabling potentially significant economic benefits to the UK and contributing to reaching the National net zero carbon emission target set by 2030\.
