Description
According to the census of **2011, 451,529 UK** residents specified their ethnicity as Bangladeshi, forming **0.7%** of the total population. It is perceived that about **10 million Bangladeshis** are living abroad, of which about 2.4 million Bangladeshis are living abroad permanently either as citizens or with other valid documents in as many as 162 countries.
Many NRBs cannot visit Bangladesh frequently for various reasons, including poverty, immigration status, employment status, health conditions and age, which triggers substantial mental wellbeing risks. At the same time, the experience of migration and resettlement in a new country is also associated with mental health risks.
In addition, many young people of Bengali heritage, including those born and raised in Britain, are losing a sense of their cultural identity because of having little or no connection with their roots, creating a huge risk of an identity crisis. To solve these community issues, MUKTO ARTS proposes an application titled **' Immersive** **Journey to the Root'**, which implements immersive technologies integrated with **Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)** to create distinct experiences by blending the real world with digital reality.
This simulated virtual world includes interpersonal communication designed to help preserve ties with family members back on family. Other features of the application are virtual games, artwork and other activities that can be interacted with family in a virtual environment.
This first mental health application develops a viewpoint based on the subject's past, condition, requirements, and goals. An individualized care plan that is constantly updated based on your success. This will change the game in a variety of ways. The advantages include effectiveness, privacy, convenience, affordability, and enjoyment.
This offered app will provide a digital solution by combining 360-degree video technology with a cutting-edge sound system to immerse individuals in their birthplace and make them feel like you've stepped inside and explored their native city without physically visiting.
This project will facilitate the young British Bangladeshi diaspora to make a virtual journey to the city where their ancestors were born and raised, strengthening their identity.
We all aim that this cost-effective application will support the global net-zero target by reducing the number of passengers visiting (i.e., carbon emissions by the aviation industries) their birthplace to boost their mental wellbeing.
