TEK4 is a world leader in drilling technology for cooling holes in turbine components used in jet engines and industrial gas turbines. TEK4 specialises in Fast Hole Drilling Electrical Discharge Machining for drilling straight and shaped cooling holes necessary for turbines to function. All TEK4's machines are designed and manufactured in-house and TEK4 also offers customers process development, turnkey solutions and process application innovation.

This project will deliver the first-of-its-kind unmanned high-precision waterjet drill. This will be a cold drilling process, therefore, it does not melt or crack the turbine components during production, thus preventing defects and producing a higher quality and safer blade. Being a cold process will also facilitate more complex cooling hole configurations and increase the working life of the components by 25%. This system will slot seamlessly onto any workshop floor; it will be user-friendly and capable of producing fully processed blades, vanes and combustors 50% quicker than competitors, without requiring any human supervision.
