We are designing and deploying an intelligent energy storage system that stores on-site generated energy or cheap Time Of Use tariff energy in our intelligent and autonomous Battery Energy Storage System and utilises it as efficiently as possible. Our system will monitor the national grid frequency and use forecasts of the customers energy use profile (duty cycle) to balance the energy stores storage and distribution with the needs of the customer and the national grid as a weighted output.

This project directly tackles energy efficiency and the reduction of energy wasted or on-site renewable energy under-utilised whilst also tackling the reduction of Peak Energy usage and the way in which energy is managed at key points in the day. This project correlates directly with the introduction of new technology already proven for energy management, recovery and ultimately its storage and reuse but builds on it by using innovative Load forecasting in an intelligent energy management strategy using power monitoring technology for decision based autonomy, balancing the needs of the user with the needs of the national grid.

This will allow NZ Energy Systems to make significant energy savings on the test site and prove our capability to deliver further projects. The benefits could translate extensively industry wide and substantially help to grow our business whilst reducing energy bills for our customers and reducing the strain on the national grid at key times in the day.

In addition to forecasting using duty cycles, there is scope to forecast based on energy saving potential and current State of Charge of the Energy Storage as well as mass utilisation of all energy systems connected via the IOT to serve/disconnect from the national grid on demand (autonomously, given certain criteria). To our knowledge, there are no storage systems which specifically consider forecasting of loads for these processes nor autonomously go off grid at high demand periods and therefore nothing of this type exists on the market. There is a direct need for energy reduction and there is an existing market for these technologies which we are already selling to. This project will allow a new breed of Energy Storage and control methodology to be developed and tested in real time using our test site Icon Plastics who have agreed to allow us to monitor and test on their plastic mould injection equipment and ancillary equipment.
