For this period,\nmultiple scenarios would be defined, with the common goal of net-zero emissions by 2050,\nin line with current U.K Carbon Budgets, and with currently available technological\npossibilities input. For each scenario the model would identify the least-cost\ndecarbonisation route for the energy system, alongside the energy mix, and costs\nassociated, among other factors. During the second period starting in 2050, different goals\ncould be set via policy targets, such as full-zero or negative emissions targets, which\nalongside a realistic base scenario, would allow for scenarios to be compared and the main\ndrivers of NETs (within this context) to be investigated. The results of these scenarios would\nshow the energy technology mix, production and consumption, greenhouse gas emissions,\ninvestment levels and system costs (among others) at five-year intervals and the end of the\ntime horizon.
