Broadland Meridian is a third sector organisation that provides support, advice and training to people in East Anglia. It has identified a gap in the market for a new product to deliver behavioural change training for building occupants. This will support building users in maximising energy efficiency benefits and in doing so reduce carbon emissions and fuel bills.Broadland Meridian provides support services to affordable housing tenants including those owned by its parent company Broadland Housing Association. It has found that, although Broadland Housing Association is committed to delivering close to zero carbon properties in its new build programme and improving the energy performance of existing stock, there is a lack of support, advice and guidance for occupants to take full advantage of potential benefits.Upon further research and discussions with TPAS, the national tenant advisory service, Broadland Meridian has found this lack of behavioural change training is commonplace across the sector. From discussions with partners in the local community it is also apparent that many building occupants are struggling to keep warm as energy prices soar.Broadland Meridian is therefore seeking a TSB voucher to work with Salford University to develop a behavioural change product. This will focus on two areas;• Adapting behaviour to maximise the energy performance of close to zero carbon buildings• Helping occupants of poorer quality buildings afford to keep warm as energy prices soarThis programme will provide customers with a clear, concise and jargon free behavioural change programme aimed at increasing energy efficiency, engaging customers around retrofit, therefore leading to savings for customers and communities where we work.
