This has the potential to reduce consumer's overall expenditure on transit packaging and to reduce packaging waste and also carbon emitted by shipments of packaging into a manufacturing supply chain. The product's simple structure makes them versatile, easy to use and capable of usage on various forms of transit packaging. The market for this type of innovation is extensive and a 1% penetration into the potential market would represent sales of around 2m fasteners per year in just the US and Europe. The company is engaged in R&D in order to develop more products for new grades of 'performance' board which is being adopted industry wide.
