The SolaQuaGen (“SQG”) Water Machine Demonstrator follows on from the successful TSB funded “Proof of Concept” project which fully validated the technology of the Water
Machine. The project aims to show the benefits of SQG technology in desalination and
potentially waste water treatment to customers globally enabling a full commercial launch.
Existing desalination technologies are near maximum efficiency, but are energy intensive, with high operating costs, large carbon emissions. SQG technology delivers an economic, environmentally friendly means of generating fresh water that is mobile and fast to erect using either waste heat or solar energy.
SQG successfully built and tested a prototype during 2012 and has approached a range of customers to seek their input on the final design/performance requirements. The design has been developed to demonstrate the technology to key customers and thus facilitate the commercial launch. SQG technology transforms the science of desalination by utilising pressure differentials with a series of advanced evaporators/condensers, heat from the sun and/or waste heat. The air and fluid flows are designed to recover and recycle much of the energy used allowing the total process to deliver energy efficiencies in a semi-closed system.
The “Proof of Concept” unit’s operation validated the technology and operating performance delivering:
• Life time cost in use advantage of 40%
• Power usage
