Description
Offices in the next decade will evolve into smart, flexible, sustainable and on-demand spaces. They will be designed to promote building operation automation and more flexibility of space usage. Also, the built environment accounts for more than 30% of the UK and US total carbon emissions. Determining occupants' density, movement, and proximity within buildings is a starting point for efficient utilisation of the indoor spaces.
DIREK has recently developed the Smart Indoor Management System: SIMS (Patent Pending GB2111528.2), innovative technology for real-time, accurate and privacy-aware occupancy and activity monitoring. The technology enables buildings to move towards on-demand energy consumption and reduces the energy usage of buildings up to 30%.
SIMS has successfully deployed in three different buildings across the UK and potential customers and collaborators have been identified.
The Occupancy Sensor market registered a CAGR of 13.3% over the forecast period (2020-2025) to reach USD 3.6Billion with the market for residential buildings expected to grow at the highest. The US is the largest Occupancy Sensor market and accessing this huge market would enable Direk's covered area to grow at a rapid pace.
The aim of this feasibility study is to target and establish a relationship with BMS providers and building owners in the United States and investigate the possibility of integrating our system with their platform. SIMS is a natural extension to their current product lines.
