Description
Anaerobic Digestion (AD) is a system for extracting energy from organic waste. The process is efficient in that the energy produced is a non-fossil related fuel that can be consumed at source thereby reducing the use of carbon heavy fossil fuels in both the transportation requirement and direct energy use. Once the energy has been removed from the organic waste the residue ‘digestate’ is a high value organic fertiliser that can replace entirely the need for chemical fertilisers thereby eliminating the necessity to artificially chemically enhance our food producing land and saving on carbon heavy fossil fuel production and transportation costs.By investing in small process efficiencies such as improving the biogas retention of all AD systems the benefits can magnified significantly. £5000 invested in the right place can easily result in a £500,000 saving.
