This project relates to the development of enabling technology, to supply high voltage, high power

semiconductor devices, based on diamond, to the energy industry. These devices utilise proprietary

approaches to overcome the perceived limitations of diamond as a semiconductor material. These components

will be embedded in power electronic systems with applications ranging from energy source grid interfaces,

grid control technologies to large-scale end-use applications. Completion of this project will prepare the

technology to be taken to market through a commercialisation phase starting with a diode product that will

considerably improve the performance of existing power transistors, paving the way for a fully diamond

replacement that will significantly reduce the cost and increase the efficiency of grid level power electronics.
