We have identified a unique piece of research that is needed to help architects, specialists, communities & town-planners in, cost-effectively, meeting the 2016 Zero Carbon target for new developments. With less than 4 years remaining, this research must be concluded immediately if we are to, collectively, influence decision-making and avoid very expensive on-site and off-site “allowable solutions” (Carbon Tariffs) – which, in turn, will impact the deliverability of developments in our recovering economy.Historically, much effort has been focussed on individual buildings, rather than on the way that they are assembled in our cities; master-planning.Our aim is to combine very low building energy targets (enabled with software tools) with masterplanninglayouts that take into account the principles of low energy design and Passivhaus.
