Birmingham is investing significantly in future proofing the city in response to increasing pressures to meet ambitious targets with limited resources. Birmingham ‘Citi-Sense’ will provide a unique opportunity to look at the potential of a new digital ecosystem to lever collective action that will have bigger impact on jobs, tackle low carbon living, mobility and a high quality of life. The digital ecosystem will support business innovation, improve timely decision making and large scale citizen engagement to accelerate opportunities and create real benefits for citizens and businesses. ‘Citi-Sense’ will explore the benefits and challenges of integrating some of the city’s many systems and the potential of a platform to host a smart city services marketplace, generate revenue and business advantages through data sharing and service improvement for the City and the business community.
