Description
The project investigates the market for a new, innovative, unglazed solar air collector for
integration into the roofs of new and existing housing to provide space heating and water
heating. The innovation promises to provide a cost effective and architecturally attractive
method of achieving a significant renewable energy contribution for new and existing
housing, the costs and benefits of which will compare extremely favourably with established
and emerging low carbon energy technologies such as conventional solar water heating
systems, solar PV, heat pumps, biomass, micro-CHP and fuel cells.
This new system will provide a cost effective and practicable solution to housing developers
who are required by Government to build zero carbon homes from 2016 and to house owners
wishing to improve the energy performance of their dwellings.
