Description
Grow Bristol is a new urban farming business set up to develop and demonstrate innovative and sustainable ways of growing food in the city spaces of Bristol for the benefit of all its inhabitants. We call our approach ‘smart urban farming’; bringing innovation and enterprise together to help develop a better food system that brings environmental, economic and social benefits.
We want to develop a commercially viable urban aquaponics farm to produce healthy and affordable food all-year round for local consumption; involve people across the city in food growing to increase their knowledge and wellbeing; and help create new businesses and employment. This system will demonstrate food growing systems that use much less water, and have a lower carbon footprint, compared to more traditional farming practices.
