Leeds and Bradford are working closely together to promote sustainable low carbon growth along the urban corridor connecting them, using the opportunities provided by investment in ultrafast broadband and world leading innovation in health care and medical technology, transport, buildings, energyand water services, and flood alleviation and prevention measures. By co-ordinating and integrating these systems, using the the latest technologies, the aim is to deliver sustained growth in jobs and investment which will more than match the increase in population forecast for both cities. The transformation will offer the opportunity to trial new innovations in governance including the development of 'Civic Enterprise' with the public sector more becoming more enterprising and private sector becoming more civic. The bid is backed by a wide range of leading companies and HEI's.
