The Mobile Water Machine (MWM) aims to demonstrate the benefits and viability of an
innovative technology delivering low carbon desalination and potentially waste water
treatment with global applications.
Existing desalination technologies are near maximum efficiency, but are energy intensive,
with high operating costs, consequently generating large carbon emissions, and are inflexible
with long lead times to install. MWM technology delivers a more economic, environmentally
friendly means of generating fresh water from the sea with a plant that is mobile and fast to
erect.
SolaQuaGen has approached a range of customers to seek their input on the design and
performance. From this a design has been developed that needs to be produced as a proof of
concept prototype. This would be used to demonstrate the technology to potential lead
customers, giving them the confidence to invest allowing a full commercial launch. MWM
technology transforms the science of desalination by utilising pressure differentials with a
series of advanced evaporators/condensers, heat from the sun and/or waste heat. The air and
fluid flows are designed to recover and recycle much of the energy used in evaporation
allowing the total process to deliver energy efficiencies in a semi-closed system.
The technology delivers the following benefits:
• Life time cost in use advantage of 45%
• Power usage
