{"title": ["", "HyFly - Hybrid-Electric Flying Demonstrator"], "description": ["", "\n"The introduction of hybrid-electric and electric technologies will bring about a paradigm change in the aviation industry. Mastering of this game-changing technology area will secure the aerospace industry for the next 30 years, and HyFly will position Airbus and the UK at the forefront of this, poised to deliver innovative hybrid-enabled wing design for next generation aircraft.HyFly represents a critical part of the E-Fan X hybrid-electric flight demonstrator programme, a joint programme launched with Siemens and Rolls-Royce to explore the challenges of high-power electric propulsion systems, such as thermal effects, electric thrust management, altitude and dynamic effects on electric systems and electromagnetic compatibility issues through flight of a hybrid-electric technology demonstrator in 2020\\. HyFly delivers the airframe integration element, complementary to the technologies and capabilities being developed by Siemens and Rolls-Royce, ultimately delivering the final flying demonstration of the hybrid-electric aircraft system.\n\nThe HyFly project will acquire the aircraft platform, carry out the design of all aircraft modifications required to enable the installation of a hybrid propulsion system and perform the physical modification and subsequent installation of the system. Once assembled, HyFly will also prove the airworthiness of the platform and obtain the permit to fly, as well as performing the first ever flight of a 3000V DC High Voltage Hybrid-Electric Propulsion System (HEPS).\n\nThe project will be the first time a commercial jet will be adapted to include a hybrid propulsion system of this magnitude, and as such will require significant use of innovative solutions in the airframe modification and systems installation to ensure the success of the project."\n\n"], "extra_text": ["", "\n\n\n\n"], "status": ["", "Closed"]}
