Description
The project is concerned with the development of reagentless (photo-, thermo- and electro-chemical) flow chemistry techniques to transform simple organic starting materials into industrially relevant compounds of high value. Initially, the focus will be on the development of new thermally-induced cyclobutenone rearrangements for the synthesis of polyaromatic ring systems. Our horizons will then shift towards the development of useful daisy-chain sequences that seamlessly combine photochemical and/or thermochemical and/or electrochemical reactions under flow. The project will benefit from association with the EPSRC funded 'Photo:Electro' Programme Grant and the ERDF funded 'LabFact' project.
