Increased power station or power plant efficiency means low electricity production costs. It means that energy suppliers can acquire less fuel (biomass, fossil, municipal waste or nuclear) or drill to shallower depths for geothermal power or utilise less land and infrastructure for solar power. The subsequent reduction in operating costs will decrease the energy suppliers' electricity exportation costs and the electricity cost to the consumer, customer or end-user.

Furthermore, carbon footprint reduction, emissions reduction, nuclear waste reduction and environmental impact mitigation all are features of increased power station efficiency. These benefits limit the impact on climate change and the legacy of nuclear waste that is left behind for future generations.

The 21st of Quaw's Intellectual Property Generations is qipGen._020, whose patent application number is GB1304570.3 and is due for publication early August 2014. qipGen._020 is a technological system of several components.

Thermal Power Plant System Enhancements (TPPSE) constitutes a select few of these components and can allow Biomass, Geothermal, Solar-Thermal (parabolic trough, solar power tower, Fresnel reflectors), Waste-burning and some low-efficiency fossil fuel power stations to upgrade their overall efficiency to approximately 30%. qipGen._020 was designed to achieve these goals with the minimum of modifications to existing power stations and power plants.

Also, novel methods of energy storage can help create flexible, secure and resilient energy systems. Hot water for heating can now be generated from ground-source heat pumps or power-plant low-grade (waste) heat.
