{"title": ["", "EV-shAIR"], "description": ["", "\nOur **EV-shAIR** consortium will focus on the business models which will enable the creation of value from V2X technologies for the benefit of the electricity operations at the East Midlands Airport to create an exemplar by using the collective battery capacity of parked EVs at the airport for the needs of the airport daily operations.\n\nAirports are facilities with needs similar to small or medium-sized towns. Accordingly, they need energy to operate their infrastructure and to provide their services. Airport systems have a high electrical energy demand due to unique requirements of airport buildings and facilities -- such as terminal air conditioning, pre-conditioned air and power at gates, powering of many appliances, and other systems specific to airports such as baggage handling systems, airfield lighting and increasing electrification of passenger transportation. Airports host some of the largest car parking facilities in the world in addition to having average parking times of between 1-14 days, ideally placing them to take advantage of V2X and the additional services and revenue that this can bring.\n\n**EV-shAIR** will take advantage of the recently published ISO 15118-20 standard which details the specification for wide scale Bi-directional Power Transfer (BPT) between all types, moving beyond the CHAdeMO based projects that have been carried out to date. As this standard is adopted by vehicle manufacturers combined with the rapid growth in sales of EVs, this will provide a wider addressable market and we believe that use cases such as airports are uniquely placed to take early advantage of this by offering a range of new services to their users whilst also protecting the power requirements of their own site and their immediate neighbours.\n\nThe output from our project will be to help the current and future EV engagement with V2X especially at an airport setting which offers predictable time journeys from passengers parking their EV at the airport for pre booked period of time. **EV-shAIR** will establish the best ways for the airport to manage and where necessary incentivise these passengers to drive and park their EVs at the airport and use the collective virtual EV battery array through the latest V2X technology to power the airport operations and where feasible to share in the value generated with the EV owners. This will generate new business opportunities for both the airport and their customers.\n\n"], "extra_text": ["", "\n\n\n\n"], "status": ["", "Closed"]}
