Growing compound air pollution in China is a long-term accumulated challenge imposing crisis in environment, health and sustainable economic growth faced by the whole nation. With almost 100 million adults suffering from chronic respiratory disease in China, there is an increasing demand for air quality monitoring and carbon control solutions, thus this project aims to develop an intelligent air quality monitoring, analytic and carbon trading platform. Comprehensive air quality sensors for various air pollutants will allow the measure and forecasting of air quality status and pollution levels, thus to provide timely scientific evidence which can be used for carbon trading. This project will encourage government, industry and individuals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combatting climate change which in turn promotes well-being and better quality of life. This project will create an accountable framework to oversee the carbon trading process to ensure accuracy and transparency on data analysis, thus supporting the growth of China’s carbon market to further sustainable development. We strongly believe that success of our project in China will encourage setting up similar platforms in other ODA countries such as Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Africa, to help improve the welfare of the population.
