Description
DeSiRABLE builds on a previous Energy Catalyst feasibility project "EVERESST DC" and continues the research and developmental work of its outcomes. DeSiRABLE seeks to explore and develop strategies for development, rapid and reliable deployment of stand-alone solar electricity driven technologies to provide power for a full range of milk chilling systems. Powering such agricultural loads in Sub-Saharan Africa enhances enterprises which are key to the economy of rural Africa. The chilling unit is an Anchor Base Load in a milk collection centre (MCC) supplied with renewable electricity which forms the core of an "energy hub" providing energy access opportunities to support rural development, enhancing growth and eradicating poverty.
