Description
Vector Homes has designed a new residential building system using their innovative nanomaterial enhanced recycled material panels which can be easily bolted to a rapidly assembled steel frame, forming a thermally efficient home. Together, the Vector Homes unique materials and design will deliver NetZero housing without compromising on cost and quality.
The industry is facing several key challenges:
1. UK housing deficit/need for affordable housing - Rising land values and inflation in construction costs preventing new companies from entering the market.
2. Amendments to Building Regulations - Driving need for more fire-safe materials to be developed.
3. UK Construction priorities to lower emissions by 50% - Means more sustainable materials need to be developed to reduce embodied carbon..
This project builds on existing materials development R&D at Vector Homes and will result in the build of a full-sized prototype home at a national test facility to act as a proof of principle, demonstrate that improvements over existing building components can be achieved with enhanced recycled materials and allow regulatory approval to be achieved.
