The failure of these devices is not only inconvenient but can result in\nserious disruption. This is particularly true in locations such as Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and\nother locations where there isn't a reliable grid connection. At present, when these devices\nfail, the fault cannot be remotely diagnosed and requires an engineer to visit the site, diagnose\nthe problem, order parts and then revisit the site to fix the problem. This process is not only\ntime consuming but inefficient, expensive and in some cases results in leaving critical services\nwithout power.\nAt Product Health, we have developed a series of advanced innovative algorithms that give\ncustomers the ability to detect failure of their batteries weeks before it occurs, enabling even\nearlier detection and intervention. This technology has been developed with Oxford\nUniversity and is proven in the field however, in order for us to take advantage of it\ncommercially our market research has shown that it we need to develop a scaleable hardware\nsolution and expand our software analytics service. The aim of the project is therefore to\ndevelop a ruggedized hardware remote monitoring kit, expand the analytical capability of our\ntechnology to improve battery performance and finally trial the prototype with Network Rail,\nGSMA and Chloride Exide, before launch.\nThe market for non-automotive batteries is currently worth in excess of $10 Billion per year\nand growing at 7%.
