Realising the vision of decentralised power generation, as described in ‘The Third Industrial Revolution’, will require major changes in the way that energy is managed. e2E Services will use their systems engineering experience from the communication network and software engineering domains to create and assess a decentralised framework for energy management of communities.
We will create an open network with a common programmable software platform at each node, which can be used by individuals and communities to develop innovative approaches to managing their own energy through the internet. Other platform approaches e.g. smart phones have shown a full appreciation of the possibilities will not be evident until experience is gained in using the system, and our approach will be designed to support an eco-system of contributors.
A decentralised framework concept was established by e2E in a recently finished TSB SMART Proof of Market study for intelligent resource management. e2E will focus on developing an effective management concept that can be communicated clearly to partners for a contribution to the collaborative R&D phase.
