MARINEWIND is a 36-month (Nov-22 to Oct-25) Horizon Europe coordination and support action that will identify bottlenecks and potential opportunities to strengthen floating offshore wind technologies (FOWT) role in delivering innovative solutions to system integration and will consider how best to integrate such a system by exploring the market, policy and regulations issues, social, financial and techno-economic optimal solutions, and provision for storage and flexibility recommendations.

ESC is part of a consortium of nine partners
across the UK, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Greece, with the consortium being led by the Italian Agency for the Promotion of European Research (APRE).
This work is funded by IUK on behalf of the European Union, Horizon Europe call HORIZON-CL5-2021-D3-02, under grant agreement No 101075572, project MarineWind (Market Uptake Measures of Floating
Offshore Wind Technology Systems).

Our work at ESC will provide a basis for policymakers and key stakeholders at the local, national, and European level to develop more informed RES (Renewable Energy System) policy and for analysing the market
dynamics when including all renewable energies. Our techno-economic analysis, development of use case scenarios, and an analysis of the feasibility of FOWT implementation at the regional and European level will inform and influence key stakeholders RES policies
and serve as a useful reference for organisations looking to support the deployment of FOWT. Through our work ESC will also be contributing to the development of market and financial frameworks that can operate efficiently and that are incentive compatible.

The main objectives of the MARINEWIND project are:

·
Increase awareness of policy and decision makers, market and business actors, civil society organisations and funding bodies for developing political and business
agendas open to the floating offshore wind energy opportunities.

·
Increase social acceptance of FOWT facilities and installations through science-based evidence and tools addressing misperception phenomena from citizens.

·
Financial frameworks that can operate efficiently and are incentive-compatible to support further investment in renewable energy sources and more specifically
in FOWT (Floating Offshore Wind Turbine) Technology.

· Providing solutions characterised by a wide potential for reapplication and long-term viability.
