The HEAT programme is to provide novel sensor and electronics technology for the industrial compressor and gas turbine industries. HEAT is a High tEmperature blAde Tip-clearance measurement system which will provide reduced through-life costs, improved efficiency and reliability for the UK gas turbine, industrial compressor, industrial turbo-charger and chemical compressor industries.

The system provides autonomous and consistent high accuracy blade tip clearance measurement with a precision of up to 25µm utilising a robust sensor immune to in-service contamination and able to operate in extreme environments with temperatures up to 1000°C.
